William Evans William Keith Evans, who practiced dentistry for 47 years, died of heart failure Monday at his Santa Rosa home.
Born in Santa Rosa, Evans, 78, served as a captain in the Army Dental Corps during World War II after graduating from the University of California School of Dentistry. He retired from practice In 1984.
Evans attended Santa Rosa Public Schools and Santa Rosa Junior College. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was active in the scouting movement.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, tennis and golf, according to his wife of 50 years, Lucy Wright Evans of Santa Rosa.
He was a member of Rotary, the Elks, the Harris Foundation, the Wild Oak Saddle Club, 20-30 and the 30-Up clubs, the Commonwealth Club, Church of the Incarnation, Delta Sigma Dental Fraternity and SIRS. He was a former president of the Santa Rosa 20-30 organization and the Redwood Empire Dental Society.
Besides his wife, Evans is survived by his daughters, Megan Anderson of Santa Rosa and Stacey Evans of Northridge; son, Andrew Evans of Sacramento; brother, Alan Evans of Calistoga; and by two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the Church of the Incarnation on Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa. Memorial donantions can be made to the Church or to the Men’s Tennis Club at SRJC.
