Dr. Andrew Joseph Perry passed away in the early morning, Saturday, February 16, 2008 in a Santa Rosa hospital. He was 93 years old.

A descendant of two California pioneer families, Davisson and Perry, Andrew was born on a fruit ranch in Suisun to Joseph and Nellie on September 22, 1914.

Andy attended Armijo High School, U.C. Berkeley, and UC San Francisco School of Dentistry. He began his dental career in 1937 with one of Santa Rosa’s early dentists, Dr. Crawford, across from Santa Rosa High School.

A proud World War II veteran, Andy enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served with the Naval Marine Dental Corps. He continued duty in the Navy Reserves until 1966. One highlight for Captain Perry was working on the carriers: USS Boxer, USS Hancock, and USS Ranger.

Santa Rosa was home for 70 years. Generations of dental patients knew him as he practiced for over 42 years.

In his community, he was Past President of the Active 20-30 Club of Santa Rosa #50, Past President of the Redwood Empire Dental Society, a Rotarian, and a member of Santa Rosa Masonic Lodge # 57. Andy was a dental volunteer at Hanna Boys Center for many years.

Andy will always be remembered for his passion for duck hunting, enjoyment of gardening and his love for the beaches in Bodega Bay and Hawaii.

To those who knew him, he was a cherished friend, a beloved husband, dad, and grandfather and great grandfather. Andy leaves behind his adored wife of 62 years, Frances; his son Marshall Perry and wife Jaye of Danville; his daughter Joan Ryan and husband Walt of Santa Rosa, and daughter Sharon Alexander and husband Dan of Jackson; grandchildren: Mark and Chris Perry, Kelly and Andrew Ryan, Danielle and Lauren Alexander as well as three great grandchildren: Susannah, Thomas, and Eloise.
