Loving husband, father, grandfather, patriarch, friend. These are but a few of the traditional titles one could use to describe the man loved by so many. For those of us blessed by his unconditional love, never-ending support and guidance, it is his wit, his uncanny sense of humor, and his without-fail comedic, yet sincere toasts (okay speeches) at our family gatherings that will be missed most of all. We will be forever comforted knowing that Dick/Pops/Poppa is now joyfully reunited with his beloved grandson, Mike McDowell.
Richard is survived by his wife of sixty years Joyce DuBois Devincenzi, daughter Karen McDowell, daughter and son-in-law Karol & Steve Black, son and daughter-in-law Robert Devincenzi & Pamela Wilkerson; son and daughter-in-law Ronald & Gloria Devincenzi; grandchildren Woody, Jake, Kayli, Gemma & Mia, great-grandchild Cash, son of grandson Mike McDowell and daughter in our hearts Tracee Devincenzi Varni, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service, open to extended family and friends, is planned for 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Hull’s Walnut Creek Chapel located at 1139 Saranap Ave, Walnut Creek, CA, with reception immediately following at Salvatore Ristorante, 1627 North Broadway, Walnut Creek, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organization would be greatly appreciated: National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Contra Costa (http://namicontracosta.org/); Hospice of the East Bay (http://hospiceeastbay.org/).
