Chuck O’Connor, a 50 year resident of Walnut Creek, passed away Friday, February 26 at home.
Chuck was born in San Francisco to Charles and Eileen O’Connor. He graduated from St. Anselm’s School and at 18 went into the army, defending our country during World War II.
After the war, Chuck attended Marin Junior College and graduated from UC Berkeley. He worked many years for Shell Oil in California and Jackson Mississippi.
Upon returning to California he owned and operated numerous businesses in the Bay Area and the Napa Valley including Diablo Petroleum, Napa Valley Petroleum, Diablo Mini Storage, Diablo Tank and Equipment and OC Enterprises.
After Chuck retired, he remained active in Rotary Club of Martinez, St. Vincent De Paul Society, St. John Vianney Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, SIRS and Caring Hands.
Chuck enjoyed boating, golfing, traveling the world with his wife and spending time with family. He was a faithful member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Chuck was generous and loving to all. He was an honest and well respected businessman and devoted family man.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn, son Kevin, grandson Ryan, sister Patricia, and brother Raymond. He is survived by his sisters Mary and Midge, children Clare (Andy), Lynn (Lyn), Brian (Lisa), Steve and Gavin (Elvie). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
