Charles E. Magowan passed away April 8, 2005 in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 80 years.
Born December 4, 1924 in Hay Springs, NE.
Survived by his loving wife Katie of Santa Rosa; sons Blair Magowan and his wife Julie of Rancho Cordova, and Bruce Magowan of San Francisco; devoted mother-in-law Violet L. Pruner of Reno; step-children Bill Katsaros, Forrest Schaeffer and his wife Lori, Aimee Jacobsen and her husband Jeff, and Darla Koch, all of Santa Rosa; loving brother of James and his wife Nancy of WA; Stanley and his wife Lois of UT, Margaret New and her husband Don of Sacramento, Don and his wife Tedi of Hollister; beloved grandfather of Ross and Heather of Rancho Cordova, step grandfather of Jenna and Savannah of Santa Rosa, Jens and Benjamin of Germany, Teal, Russell, Kelcie, Patrick, Cayli, Dacota, Sienna, Nicklaus, Forrest, Jake and Aubree, all of Santa Rosa; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie served in the Navy during World War II and was in business in Santa Rosa for 60 years.
In the early years he worked for Hugh Codding and was instrumental in his development of Montgomery Village and various other Santa Rosa landmarks.
He was active in the Kiwanis, Jaycees, Trail Blazers, Active 20-30 Club of Santa Rosa #50 and other philanthropic organizations.
He founded Northern Mortgage Company in the 1960’s, where he remained in business until his death.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and traveled extensively in those pursuits.
