Passed away in Santa Rosa on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the age of 78.

Born September 4, 1933 in Orange, New Jersey, he was a resident of Santa Rosa for the past 48 years.

He is lovingly survived by Marlene Bertram, his wife of 31 years; his children Leslie (Bob) Crane, Michael and David Bertram, Laurie Horner and Patty (Bob) Reynolds; grandchildren Meagan Hufnail, Bret and Jamie Horner, and Joe and Margie Reynolds.

He attended Sacramento State, and served honorably in the U. S. Army.

In 1964, he became a partner in the advertising firm of Bertram and Milner, which later merged with Northwestern Graphics specializing in advertising, printing and graphics design.

Bill was a person who cared deeply about his community and served in many ways. He was a Past President and member of the Sonoma County Press Club, Past President of the Active 20-30 Club of Santa Rosa #50, served on the boards of the Santa Rosa City Community Services and the Parks and Recreation Department; board member of the Redwood Empire Food Bank and the American Cancer Society, a member of the Fountain Grove Business Men’s Club and the Druids.

He has been involved with the California Junior Miss Pageant, the Miss Sonoma County Pageant, and for almost 50 years has been a dedicated volunteer with the Miss California Pageant, serving as Vice President of Field Operations.

He will be remembered by many as a dedicated family man, a warm and caring friend, and a person always willing and ready to help another.

Friends are invited to a “Celebration of Life” honoring Bill on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club, 333 Country Club Drive, Santa Rosa. In his memory, donations may be made to the Redwood Empire Food Bank, 3320 Industrial Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 or Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Trauma Unit Department, 1165 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95405.
