Michael Angelo Franchetti February 28, 1937 – May 23, 2018 Michael Franchetti passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Loving husband to Sherry Spridgen Franchetti. Father to Chris Franchetti, Maria Franchetti Geary (Daniel Geary) and John Franchetti (Gesine Franchetti). Nonno to Giulia, Angus and Joseph Geary and John Franchetti.

He was a man of tremendous faith, dignity, integrity and grace. His generous spirit made those in his presence feel loved and welcomed. His sincere interest in others is evident in the lifelong friendships he maintained.

Michael graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1955, Stanford University in 1959 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Physics, University California San Francisco School of Pharmacy in 1963 with Doctor of Pharmacy degree and the Stanford Executive Program in 1973.

He carried on the family business, Medico Tomasco Drug Stores, as business owner and Pharmacist. Born and raised in Santa Rosa, he was actively engaged in many civic and community organizations including: Santa Rosa Community Health Centers where he served as Board Chair and was still actively serving as a Volunteer Pharmacy Auditor and was also currently volunteering for Sonoma County Special Olympics as a Bocce Coach. Previously he served as Ursuline High School Board President, Santa Rosa Junior College Foundation Board Chair, City of Santa Rosa Planning Commission, Downtown Development Association President, YMCA Board President, and the Active 20-30 Club Board President.

He was passionate about supporting community and local businesses.

Michael was an avid collector of all things pharmacy, stamps and coins. He was a magician, always good for a magic trick, or two, at family dinners. He played bocce on Monday nights with the Sonoma County Bocce Club. He was a Genealogy and local history buff.

He and Sherry enjoyed travel, gardening and family time and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a role model to us all.

A celebration mass will be held on Tuesday, June 26th, 1:30 p.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 398 10th St, Santa Rosa. A celebration of Michael’s life to follow at Franchettis’ Wood Fire Kitchen, 1229 N. Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa. Donations in his name may be made to the Spridgen Scholarship Fund at Cardinal Newman High School, the Sonoma County Bocce Club or to a charity of your choice. All arrangements are being handled by Daniels Chapel of the Roses.
