The Active 20-30 Club of Santa Rosa (Club #50) will be hosting the Third Annual Great Escape Suitcase Party on Friday November 7th. The Club will be partnering with the Valley of the Moon Children's Center (VMCC) in Santa Rosa, which provides supportive and educational services for the abandoned, neglected and abused children of Sonoma County.
The Great Escape fundraiser is a unique event that invites guests to enjoy a night of cocktails, gourmet food, dancing, and exclusive auction items. The event will take place at the Sonoma Jet Center in Santa Rosa. Attendees will have the opportunity to win an elite getaway for two with the winners hopping on a private jet that night to enjoy a VIP weekend in Las Vegas, complete with 5-star hotel accommodations, and cash to enjoy the destination.
Half of the funds raised from this year's Great Escape event will go to the Valley of the Moon Children's Center dental program. "It ensures that our community's most vulnerable children receive dental care in an environment that recognizes their special circumstances," explains VMCC Community Program Manager Meg Easter-Dawson.
The other half of the funds raised will go into the 20-30 club's Youth Benevolent Fund, a reserve of money that is dispersed to charities and youth programs throughout Santa Rosa. All of the 20-30 club's efforts are donated, allowing 100% of the funds raised to go to local children.
Donations from local dentists allow dental care at VMCC to be provided at reduced costs. The average cost per child is $552, though Dawson says that dental care can cost upwards of $7,000.
"Dental care is expensive, but extremely important at a young age," explains Active 20-30 member and Great Escape Co-Chair Kirk Faris. "We hope to bring in enough money to help several of the children get the dental care they need."
Tickets are $200 per person or $175 for a No Fly ticket, meaning you can enjoy the festivities, but will not be entered to win the weekend getaway. Tickets can be purchased from the Great Escape website at jointhegreatescape.com.
The Santa Rosa Active 20-30 Club #50 was established in 1929 and has since hosted hundreds of events to raise money for local youth charities, as well as volunteer time to assist with other existing charities and children's events. Club #50 raised close to $1.5 million in the last 15 years alone, which directly benefit children in need in Santa Rosa.
